More Documentation in 2012…

2011 has come to a close, and with that the busiest year of my life so far is officially over.  Between having a great year at my new job & working crazy hours, I also got married to my best friend.  It was a busy year indeed!

I’m a bit behind on the goal of this site, which is to document my life.  So friends & family bear with me as I do a little back-posting.  I want to share a bit with you from my honeymoon, work, holiday parties and more.  It’s not only to update you but also for me to have one place for me to keep track.   It seems that with so many places to tell life’s stories I have my own story spread over so many difference channels – Facebook, Twitter, FourSquare, Instagram and now Path. How can you keep all the memories in one place?!  So, although I will continue to update all those channels too, in 2012 I am going to make a big effort to also update this site, my little site, where my story and life events (big and small) can continue to be documented.

Here’s to more documentation in 2012!

Honeymoon…. Simply ahhhmazing.

Our honeymoon to Dubai and the Maldives was nothing short of 16 days of perfection.  We kicked off our trip with a few days in Dubai.  We filled our days with desert safaris, exploring the souks, indoor skiing, and of course time at the pool and sea.

After Dubai we flew into Maldives, just the flight over the islands already took my breath away.  If you look closely you can see the tiny chain of bungalows projecting off each island!

Our first stop in the Maldives was a teeny island, Bodu Hithi.  The island had amazing coral surrounding the island.  Right off our swim ladder there was coral where we could swim with hundreds of fish in gorgeous turquoise water. image

Our second and last Maldives stop was Soneva Gili.  Here the highlight was undoubtedly our gorgeous open air villa.  The villa was was actually larger than our apartment at home!

After taking the longest vacation I’ve ever taken… I could DEFINITELY get used to this.  We found the ‘Day Six' phenomenon to ring true: after six days of vacation, you suddenly find yourself in a state of complete relaxation - thoughts about work and home leave you, the urge to check email subsides, and you’re left with just… you.  It was wonderful.  And then we still had 10 days left to really enjoy it. :)

All over the web lately I see fall-related posts. Fall food, Fall drinks and Fall weather. For us in San Francisco it’s finally summer and I could not be happier about it!

And… scene!

Notice that this blog hasn’t seen any love in awhile?  Yep, that would be because the last three months have been the busiest in my entire life.  Over the last few months I’ve gotten married and worked harder than ever before.

But now with the wedding behind us (it was wonderful) and Dreamforce behind me (and it was also fantastic) I am looking forward to finally relaxing a bit, NOT working 14 hour days and actually having weekends again.  Wedding, Dreamforce - and scene!

Que Bella!

We had a simply wonderful trip to Italy and Sicily. I call this post ‘que bella’ as that is an expression that my adorable niece, Quiara said constantly. As in “Que bella what a nice day!” Or, “I just spilled sunscreen all over my self, que bella!” She used it for positives, negatives, everything. I loved it - que bella.

We started out our trip with a quick 24 hours in Rome. I’ve been to Rome before, so I was happy to take Kevin on a 'see as many landmarks in 1 day as possible’ tour while we were there - with of course lots of coffee, wine and snacks layered within the tour. We saw my favorite sites of Rome and managed to fit in lots of relaxing time sitting in cafes and eating fabulous food.

Stop #5(ish) on the whirlwind tour - Trevi Fountain

One of our favorite moments - sipping on a glass of wine late night with this as our backdrop…

After Roma, we took a quick train ride down to Naples then a beautiful drive down to Positano.  We loved Positano - especially since there was not a whole lot to do there except, walk, eat, drink and sunbathe.  It was a place that absolutely forced you to slow down and relax.  Just lovely.

The beach in Positano…

A picnic on our deck with a view…

We also got the chance to visit Pompeii, which was fascinating…  This is a main street in Pompeii, you can still see the grooves from the chariots that made their way down this street over 2,000 years ago.  Doesn’t that just blow your mind?!

image

We then took a overnight ferry to Sicily to see my niece Quiara for a few days.  It was so amazing to see her there living this surreal life in a small town in Sicily.  Quiara lives, breathes and excels in Italian.  She speaks nothing but Italian at home, and I am just in awe of her for picking up a new language and adapting to a new way of life so quickly.  She is quite the amazing girl and I constantly feel like I have so much to learn from her.

Quiara and her loving family - she got sooo lucky to be placed with them.  She fits in perfectly.

Cute little Sicilian boats at the beach…que bella.
