The Quest for the Perfect Dirndl…

I’ve really wanted a dirndl for awhile now… During my 2nd visit to Munich in 2003 for Oktoberfest, I stayed with my German friend Silvi. She wore the cutest dirndl each day at the festival, and I was admittedly more than just a little jealous.

So, I’ve been on a quest to find my dirndl… unfortunately it didn’t happen during my trip to Leavenworth a few months ago for Ruthie’s wedding.  Leavenworth just wasn’t the dirndl mecca I had hoped for… luckily Munich is! So, on day two in Munich we headed to some stores to search for my perfect dirndl.  I have to add… Kevin was the best sport ever as I put him through the misery of me trying on literally 15 dirndls and sending him out for more and more sizes and varieties.   He even documented the search, and took pictures of my top three dirndls…

2nd runner-up… I liked the fact that this one was green, but didn’t love the length or the apron that went with it…

Runner-up… I loved the way this one fit, but I just don’t do pink. I almost tried, but just couldn’t…

And the winner!  I love her!  Green and sooo perfect!  You can expect to see this dress come out during (but not limited to) the following occasions: any event in Leavenworth, Fremont Oktoberfest, and possibly next Halloween. Yippee!  I think I’d like to name her Hilda, unless anyone has any other great German name suggestions that fit her.
