Le Beaujolais Nouveau est Arrive!
For those of you non-Francophones out there that means - the new Beaujolais is here!!
Today, the third Thursday of November, marks the release of the new Beaujolais wines. As a lover of all things French, this is also one of my favorite ‘holidays’ in France. I recall walking out of class on one Beaujolais Nouveau Thursday to find winemakers on every street corner passing out wine in paper cups to pedestrians, bikers and people in their cars (drinking and driving on Beaujolais Nouveau day is fully accepted). Everyone is so happy and excited to try the new wines that are released to the public on this day.
To celebrate Beaujolais Nouveau day, tonight I’m going to Campagne to participate in their Beaujolais Nouveau event. With a live ‘Gypsy Jazz’ band, happy hour specials and no cover - what else could I want to celebrate this Frenchy day? I fully encourage everyone to run to the store after work and pick up a bottle of this fruity, berry-licious wine to enjoy on this special French holiday. You need an excuse to sip wine, right? As Jamie would say… ‘you’re welcome.’
