Shave Ice (and don’t you dare add a ‘d’ at the end of shave!)
I really enjoy Shave Ice. And it so happens that Honolulu is home to the best shave ice in Hawaii, the country, the planet!
Yes, Waiola Shave Ice is another local spot my boss, John, loves and takes us to every year we’re here. You might recall back in April when Bill, Bryan and I were on a quest for shave ice on Kauai, well, Waiola Shave Ice is what we had in our minds (the junk that we had on Kauai was NOT the same!). Ever since we all had Waiola Shave Ice for the first time last year we were hooked! Why, you ask? Well for starters they put delicious treats in the bottom of the cup under the shave ice: I prefer ice cream; Bryan prefers mochi balls. They also seem to magically make their shave ice have the consistency of fresh snow – it is soft and delicious. Their flavoring also just has a certain… je ne sais quoi - it is just GOOD.
This is another place that gets my whole-hearted recommendation!
