Down with YP, yeah you know me! Okay, maybe not.
Actually I found that I am not so much down with the YPs. The YPN is the Young Professional Network, which I thought could be right up my alley so I attended a YPN event tonight (thank you Kevin for coming with me, I would have DIED without you there!). I really found out that I am definitely not a YP and don’t want to be. The tipping point for me was when, during the presentation, Kevin pointed out that two YPs were making out at the bar. Although I missed it, when I turned around to check it out, two other YP’s were taking tequila shots at the bar (at a networking event… o’rly?!). So… not so much my style of networking event.
However the main reason I wanted to go to this event was the presenter, Monica Guzman, who gave a great talk about her blogging job, Web 2.0, social media and dealing with “curmudgeons” in the workplace. Her talk, although sadly undermined by a horrible microphone and drunk YPs blabbing in the bar, was smart, savvy and very 2.0. I won’t lie, I might have a girl crush on her.
