Non-Blogging.
Inspired by Becca’s “Let’s Give them Something to Blog About…” post, I too felt like I wanted to share minute details of my ‘Me-Cation’ but nothing alone warranted its own post. So, here are some random thoughts/details from my solovacation…
-I haven’t turned on a tv all week. There is something so great about not watching tv. There is also something to be said for the sound of silence.
-Last night, I had a three course meal ALONE. I know, weird, right? It was actually a mini goal within my me-vacation, as dining alone has traditionally been something that scared me for one reason or another. I thought I’d try out the alone dining by doing something causal maybe a pizza place or something like that. Instead, I ended up at the opposite of that at a great restaurant Avery recommended, The Falls, and ate a three course meal. It was randomly so nice. I brought a book (just in case things got awkward) but actually didn’t end up opening it once. And, of course, I had my favorite meal – AHI! Yummm… They served it in a crazy wasabi white chocolate sauce, very different but very good.
-Today after I enjoyed my caffeine/breakfast and my coffeeshop time, I was walking around downtown and stopped into one of the many nail places on the main street. I got a pedicure and a manicure (my first manicure ever!). It was such a great little treat. The place was so dead, I am convinced I was their only customer all day long.
-Walking back to the hotel I swear I could smell my flip flops melting on the sidewalk, that is how hot it is here.
-NO ONE walks around in Palm Springs, it is just too freaking hot. I was walking the two blocks from downtown to my hotel (last night and today) and each time someone pulled over and asked if I ‘wanted a ride.’ Too weird! Like maybe I was so crazy for walking outside they felt they needed to save me? Or maybe they were just crazy creepos – who knows.
-The desert in the summer is still proving to be the best place ever for my solovacation, it is so deserted here (ha! Deserted!). If anyone else ever seeks a solitude vacation, but doesn’t want to go in the middle of a forest somewhere, I fully recommend Palm Springs in July.
