And On the 11th day of Christmas…We Partied.

December 11th brought not just one, but two parties to our holiday schedules. The first was Kevin’s ‘Music of the Night’ themed company party - which was quite the elegant affair: tuxes, ball gowns, two bands, endless drinks and food, casino games, professional photographers, live Phantom of the Opera performances - it was amazing! They had rented out the entire City Hall buidling. Hands down the best (and fanciest) holiday party I’ve ever been to.

We then went to our second party which was on the exact opposite end of the classy spectrum - the 8th annual Elf Party!  Imagine 700 people all dressed up like elves and Santa dancing to a DJ under constant confetti snowfall - it was amazing!

What a fantastic way to kick off the holiday party season - next up is my work party where the current rumor is that Cyndi Lauper will be performing!

Presents under the tree…
I had to get a picture of our cute tree with presents before I ship the presents off to Walla Walla.  Get excited kids, there are some good gifts in these boxes.

Dreamforce!  Our company’s big event, Dreamforce is officially over today.  It was quite the long and exciting week - it’s so bittersweet that it is over.   We had 30,000 people attend the conference over 4 days.  We got to see Stevie Wonder sing, Will.I.Am spin, and Bill Clinton speak.  What a fun week!  While I am sad that it is over, I am excited to get back to thinking about Christmas again!

We LOVE Skype! I’ve always had a place in my heart for Skype - but this Thanksgiving I grew to love Skype just a little more.  Quiara, who is currently an exchange student in Italy, was admittedly feeling a little sad to be missing Thanksgiving with the family - and we admittedly missed her like crazy!  Luckilly Skype saved the day.  I think we Skyped with her for almost 2 hours on Thanksgiving - and even took a family photo, tres cute.   I would have loved to have had Skype when I studied abroad.

It’s a Reno Thanksgiving

This Thanksgiving was a first for us - we all met up in Reno, Nevada to celebrate as a family.  Every Thanksgiving I’ve spent with my family has been in our home in Walla Walla - so this was quite a change for us!  My wonderful Aunt Judy and Uncle Ken live in Reno, so they invited we invited ourselves to their house this year. My family drove down from Walla Walla to Reno (12+ hours!) while Kevin and I drove over from San Francisco.  We all met up in cold, snowy Reno.  It was 11 degrees when we arrived - quite the change from the winter San Francisco temps in the 60’s!   Although I was excited to finally be able to wear my puffy jacket and Ugg boots.

We bundled up lots and explored Reno - although to be honest it was hard to do too much more than casinos and malls - it was so.cold! We did venture out to walk the “marina” - aka: a man-made lake. Although not so much a marina, it was a perfect lake to walk around before taking in an absurd amount of calories at the Thanksgiving table.

I had such a wonderful time with my niece, Alina.  Of course I got us matching shirts to wear (this is not an unusual occurrence!).

We also found that we are addicted to bowling!  There was a great “black light’ bowling alley in the hotel we stayed in and I think we played 6 games - my hand still hurts!  Although I did get my best score ever… and I beat Kevin which is by far the most important thing.

And… immediately upon getting back home on Sunday I promptly put on my new Christmas apron and we decorated for Christmas.  Christmas decorating is one of my favorite activities ever.  Blasting Christmas music, reminiscing about ornaments and photos - such a wonderful way to spend an evening!

Amazing video of the fog in San Francisco.  Since we moved here, we haven’t seen hardly any fog - it’s been sunny and clear almost every day.  Come summer - I’m sure that will all change!

It’s been a year today since mom passed away.
What a sad, happy, scary and exciting year it’s been without her.  I’ve gotten engaged, planned a wedding, left my comfortable job, moved from my comfortable city, moved from my circle of friends and have had many new adventures.  This was a year I needed her most and missed her all the time.
I love you mom and miss you always.
