Ahh… Summer Sailing. Well, at least for one weekend.

The summer sailing season is finally here!  The wonderful time when Seattleites can actually go out on a boat without wear puffy jackets and gore-tex.  We had our first summer-esque weekend and luckily were able to take advantage of it by going sailing both days.  On Saturday, we helped crew a friend’s boat, Discovery, for the Leukemia Cup regatta.  Although we pretty much came in dead last, we had a great time sailing and enjoying both the wind and sun!

Here’s a couple pics from the race…

On Sunday, we headed out on one of my favorite boats, Verity, for some Lake Washington sailing.  The wind was perfect and had us going around the lake at over 7 knots all day!  It was so perfect and relaxing…

So excited for more and more summer sailing!

Although I have 20/20 vision, I desperately want glasses.  This is another reminder why.

Memorial Weekend was full of surprises… lots of rain, clouds and wind! Nonetheless Memorial Day weekend also had some nice surprises up its sleeve… some excellent sailing, unexpected fabulous restaurants and a great weekend with friends.

We also helped Diggy & Ryan christen Ryan’s boat on Saturday (video above).  They officially de-named her last week (RIP, Lily) and we had the re-naming ceremony on the way to Port Ludlow (hello, Winderlee!).

The weekend was great, and I think we actually spent more time on the water than on land!  Last night I felt like my whole world was swaying back and forth every time I closed my eyes -  I’m definitely breaking in my sea legs in anticipation of lots more sailing to come this summer!

Happy (almost) Memorial Day weekend!  This weekend we’re headed out for a sailing adventure to Port Ludlow.  We’re really hoping this bogus Seattle weather clears up and gives us some sunshine and beam winds!

Krevino hitting the shelves…

Well, OUR shelf!  Last week our long awaited case of Krevino finally arrived!  After spending an evening blending our wine with our friends Adam & Ammi and then making our label  - we finally have our case of Kevino in hand…

We haven’t tried it yet - but plan to have bring our first bottle to share on this weekend’s sailing trip to Port Ludlow!

This will be my first Mother’s Day without her.  I’ll be thinking about her and missing her very much.  I love you mom!

Walla Walla Winos: The 2010 Edition

Spring Release Wine Weekend is a very special time of year in Walla Walla.  It’s when the first releases of new vintages are available for tasting and many wineries that aren’t open to the public open up for the weekend.  Lots of cheese and hors d’oeuvres are served, live music is played and… we all get really, really drunk on wine.  But for some reason getting drunk on wine weekend feels classy, no?  Okay, maybe not.  Especially when you’re getting driven around by 16 year old drivers that have had their licenses for under a month.  Hiring a driver = responsible.  Hiring 16 year old drivers = responsible, but not really.  Well, I try.

Here are some of the weekend highlights.  I once again forgot my camera, so thanks to Ryan & Sam for taking the pictures below!

Ruthie, Jamie & Digs at stop #1: SaviahPhotobucket

All the guys outside stop #3: Gifford Hirlinger

Sake Bomb jumping pic at stop #5: K Vintners

My favorite stop was stop #6: Long Shadows.  They served 8 different tastings (with big pours!) and in addition to a huge cheese buffet they had tray passed duck/fig bites.  Plus, they allowed for photo opps with the winemakers.  Like!

When you’re super luxury like Karthik & Madhuri… the Long Shadows winemaker will personally sign your bottles!

Me and my darling niece Quiara (our very responsible driver!)

At our 8th and last stop of the day: Ash Hollow.  Cheers to a great day of wine tasting!
