Soooo IN.
Tonight I went to the IN Network (Innovators Network) by default as Brie’s boyfriend couldn’t come so she had an extra slot for her guest, which I happily accepted. Networking, free food/drinks, amazing scientists? Yes, please! Three different Fred Hutch scientists spoke about their work over the course of the evening, and there was one in particular that was especially moving. Jim...
Mid-Year Resolution Check-Up.
When I first started my blog in December, I listed out all my resolutions, maybe as a way to keep them in the forefront of my mind and declare them out ‘loud’ in a way. So… entering into August I’m revisiting the goals and figuring out what I’ve done, and what’s still left to do to complete my resolutions. I’m posting this so you, all my friends/family, can keep me in check! ...

Down with YP, yeah you know me! Okay, maybe not.
Actually I found that I am not so much down with the YPs. The YPN is the Young Professional Network, which I thought could be right up my alley so I attended a YPN event tonight (thank you Kevin for coming with me, I would have DIED without you there!). I really found out that I am definitely not a YP and don’t want to be. The tipping point for me was when, during the presentation, Kevin...
Random Thought of the Day.
I want a cat.
Although recently I’ve REALLY been wanting a cat just so I can do photo shoots with him, lolspeak caption them and post on icanhascheezburger.com.
All aboard on the spaceship excellent...
Yesterday Sir Richard Bransen unveiled WhiteKnightTwo, which is the launch platform for Virgin Galactic’s commercial space travel vehicle - SpaceShipTwo. In the first model, which won the X Prize back in 2004, the WhiteKnightOne launched SpaceShipOne into space twice. This model shows Virgin Galactic’s progress on commercializing space travel, which is great considering that...
How not to sell clothing...
Today was I was shopping looking for more high waisted skirts (my current obsession)… Salesperson: “those look really weird but they’re super cute on. Me: “I didn’t think they looked weird at all, I love them!” Salesperson: “oh, well I think they look weird.” (walks away)
I am so excited for the upcoming 4 days… why you ask? Because I get to dress up in 80’s prom gear (and do prom poses all night) not once…but TWICE over the next 4 days. 80’s Prom Birthday Party on Saturday followed by 80’s Prom Duck Dodge Night on Tuesday. How did I ever get so lucky?!
Ahh!! Alert!! Bus loser is currently on my bus! I feel like I NEED to say something! Necessary or no?!
UPDATE: So… BL didn’t get off around my stop like last time so I didn’t get a chance to ‘chat’ with him. I was a little sad as I had thought of the perfect thing to say to him when we got off the bus. Ugh, maybe not meant to be.
I got no sleep, the internet is still down this morning… But I just got a free latte from Voxx this morning, things are looking up!
Sometimes, when my Comcast internet isn’t working (which is frequent) I want to throw my router off the balcony… This message courtesy of my cell phone.
You're not the boss of me now...
Tonight I went to my second Velocity Lab Series, which is a series dedicated to entrepreneurship, creativity and pursuing your dreams - basically all the stuff I completely eat up. Tonight’s speakers were Lauren Bacon and Emira Mears who wrote “The Boss of You” a book about ‘everything a woman needs to know to start, run and maintain her own business.”
It was so...
Bus Loser.
You might all know that I never talk on the phone while on the bus. I rarely (if ever) even answer my phone while on the bus. I just get too self-conscious having a conversation in front of strangers.
That said, this morning I happened to be on the phone while at the bus stop. When the bus came, I continued my conversation but most definitely lowered my voice as, again, I get self-conscious...

“There’s some deep, atavistic need women have to get together with each other and talk. It’s as essential to us as food, shelter and love. Maybe it’s something ancient leftover in us from when the cavemen went off to hunt, and we sat in a circle with each other back at the cave, waiting. When we go a long time without this kind of female conversation we feel deprived. And when we do...
SW, SW, SW, SW.
My boss, John, is always full of great stories, anecdotes and sayings that he uses to inspire and motivate his people. I went to him today as I was having a mini-crisis about part of my job that I not only didn’t want to do, but I was fearful of and dreading. Let’s just say that cold-calling is definitely not in my strength skill set - unfortunately everyone is marketing is going to...
The Clover Hype...
I posted about the Clover Coffee maker a while back. Since then, the Seattle-based Coffee Equipment Company won ‘Start-up of the Year’ at the Technology Alliance I attended a couple months ago, then they sold to Starbucks and plans are in order to install up to 80 machines in Starbucks stores nationwide. I also discovered that our contract CFO is the only person (outside Howard...
I need another Sunday or a rainy day.
I been feeling like this after every weekend - that I need just one more Sunday. Just one day to relax, not do anything but catch up on the mundane details of life that I hold so near and dear to my heart (like internet-ing, cleaning, laundry, catching up on DVR, coffeeshopping, etc.). I love crazy event-filled weekends, but I think I need to slow down a bit.
Why is summer so busy?! And why...
I love...
Weekend mornings, going out for breakfast/offee and sitting reading the paper. This might be one of my favorite things that I don’t do nearly enough. This morning Terry and I went to Louisa’s, we sat and read our newspapers and sipped coffee. We were later joined by Diggy and Jamie. What a fabulous way to start my day, I need to do this more.
Non-Blogging.
Inspired by Becca’s “Let’s Give them Something to Blog About…” post, I too felt like I wanted to share minute details of my ‘Me-Cation’ but nothing alone warranted its own post. So, here are some random thoughts/details from my solovacation…
-I haven’t turned on a tv all week. There is something so great about not watching tv. There is also something to be said for the sound of silence.
-Last...
The Voxx of Palm Springs!
As many of you know, I am somewhat obsessed with Voxx - my neighborhood coffeeshop. I enjoy going there for hours on end working or having ‘Kris’ time. This morning I found the Voxx of Palm Springs! The greatest little coffeeshop perfect for my ‘Kris’/Me-Cation time. Koffi in downtown Palm Springs has free wifi, outlets at every table… and they only play oldies...
Last week when we were out for Duck Dodge on Pajama Night, we noticed a crew filming. Here is the video that was produced that is on the homepage of the Seattle Times’ website. We are in the background in a few shots! :) Duck Dodge Tuesdays really are the best nights ever, I look forward to it more than anything else. I am so sad to be in Palm Springs this week and missing it.
Some like it hot, part two.
Palm Springs: 106 degrees at 4:00 pm. One of our clients just told me it was a ‘cool day.’ Srsly?!
Some like it hot.
Palm Springs: 92 degrees at 9:30 am. Woah.
